Checking out heaven: Book author transforms her life

Just how much impact can a mother's love have on a daughter?

Among the books measuring this impact is Kitty Foth-Regner's Heaven Without Her, (Thomas Nelson, 2008), which traces the spiritual transformation of a woman in the wake of her mother's final fatal illness.

Foth-Regner had spent her entire adult life as a hard-core feminist atheist, living for pleasure, prestige, and material wealth. But when her beloved 87-year-old mother, a woman of faith, received a diagnosis of terminal colorectal cancer, the then-47-year-old Foth-Regner decided it was time to determine if there might be any truth to her mother's belief in an eternal home.

Quick Gospel: Knowledge comes from hearing

By Craig Sager
Good News Daily

Hosea 4:6: "My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge."

Thought: How much knowledge do we have about many things? How much do we think we have though when it comes to proving a point to someone who does not agree with us? We should always be learning, never thinking that we have enough to win a battle. A time will come when your knowledge about Christianity will not be enough to bring someone into the kingdom. They will ask you a question, and you will not have an answer. We as Christians have to be in constent study of what we are doing, and saying, and making sure that we have the knowledge in all of our actions to bring a non-believer to salvation with God.

Prayer: Dear Lord, we know that we cannot have all the answers. Please just give us the understanding that we need about your words to help bring others to your kingdom. Amen.

(Craig Sager writes devotionals to inspire people in their daily walk with God and open doors of understanding in how the Bible relates to each one of us. He lives with his wife and two sons in southwestern York County, Pa.)

DHAKA, BANGLADESH (ANS) -- In the slums of Dhaka, Bangladesh a small but dedicated team of Youth With A Mission workers is tackling extreme poverty head on through their vital work.

Currently, the Dhaka Mercy team has only eight volunteers who have been working in the area since 2001. Regional Mercy Ministries leader, David Johnson estimates about 50 children have benefitted from the feeding program and there are regularly 20 children in the day care program, but much more could be done with additional help, particularly in the administration of the ministry.
